Ever since I found out about Brave Hearts for Strong Minds I had a great admiration for what the program was about and how much they were able to help families each year. I was introduced to the organization by our family friends who are very involved in the events for BHSM each year and great supporters of the organization. My Mom, younger sister and I attended the walk last year for the first time and it was a great experience. I didn’t really know what to expect at first but I was pleasantly surprised at how energetic, fun and happy the environment was. During the event I ended up helping run one of the games for the kids and it was great to see them trying their best to win the game and how excited they got when they won their prize tickets. When it came time for the actual walk to begin I started with some kids that I am close with. To have some fun we all decided that we would run instead of walk. Naturally, there was a group of kids and myself all pulling in front of the crowd. Running and being there with them was so much fun because of all the energy and excitement they gave off. Overall, I had a really great time with the community, friends, and families that all gathered to support such a great cause and mission that BHSM has. Due to my previous experiences with the team and people working for BHSM I never second guessed the decision to try and begin interning with them. I loved the idea when it was introduced to me and it fit exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to make sure I would get the best out of my experience as an intern and really be able to work with something I am strongly interested in. Brave Hearts for Strong Minds gave me the perfect opportunity to begin practicing social media in many different aspects as well as be a part of a group as helpful and inspiring as theirs.
