2020 Annual Walk
Join BHSM on June 20, 2020, virtually!
Due to the highly infectious nature of the COVID-19 virus, we have decided to err on the side of caution. Rather than cancel our 8th Annual Walk, we are going to keep the mission alive through a virtual walk! We look forward to supporting the Moher family (Evan, Stella, and Dylan) as we innovate in this ever-changing environment.
Join us starting at 10 AM on our Facebook page for walks, activities, and more.
Our 2020 Recipient Family
Meet the Moher Family!
On June 20, 2020, the 8th Annual Walk will be dedicated to Amanda Moher. A mother, wife to husband Dan, and a special education teacher (Philadelphia, PA), Amanda passed on June 13, 2019, after a battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. All proceeds from the walk will go towards the 529 education plans of Amanda’s three children, Evan (4), and twins Dylan (3) and Stella (3) (pictured).
Amanda personified everything that prompted the community to start Brave Hearts for Strong Minds. We cannot possibly hope to heal the hole in the Moher family’s hearts. But as a community, we can offer support to Evan, Dylan, and Stella, by helping to make the education their mother would have wanted for them possible.
The Mission of the Walk
Brave Hearts for Strong Minds (BHSM) (EIN 45-3973220) was started in 2012 after beloved community member, Tom Reilly, suddenly passed away, leaving behind his wife and four young children. For children who have lost a parent, there can be lasting emotional and social hurdles, along with struggles to pay for higher education. Reflecting on Tom’s compassion and friendship, each year, the Saturday before Father’s Day, BHSM holds a charity walk. While bringing together our community, the walk’s mission is to raise funds for the 529 Education Plans of children who have lost a parent.
